IndiaSpend School of Data Journalism (ISDJ) offers a credit-based course, wherein journalists can log in to study offline and based on courses completed, secure an online certification.

After enrolling, participants will have access to timed online courses.
Each course will consist of 4-5 smaller sessions covering technical and non-technical topics of 30-45 minutes each. These sessions will be conducted by knowledge, industry, or a media expert.
Each course will include pre and post-tests, short lessons, and an engaging assignment for you to work on. ISDJ also offers fellowships to journalists on a number of courses.
After completing the pre-test, all the smaller technical and non-technical sessions, shared the assignment identified for the course, and completed their posts tests, participants will be eligible to be certified for the course completed.

Participants need to create an account with ISDJ. As soon as participants are ready with an ISDJ account, they can select any course of their choice and begin a course according to their convenience.

Each course contains interactive video lessons, engaging assignments, and interesting tests. Participants can refer to pre-reads recommended by industry experts, download presentations, and engage with fellow participants using our community forum.
The ISDJ platform will offer to thousands of journalists and others, cutting edge tools in interpreting public data through real-time case studies. This will in turn bring greater data-led analysis into daily reporting on issues and the use of data for the public good. Over a period of time, we at ISDJ, believe will lead to increased accountability and better governance.
ISDJ is open to collaborations and partnerships with colleges, schools, media houses, public policy initiatives, organizations, NGOs, civil societies, businesses to build educative and informative knowledge programs around public health, food and agriculture, climate and environment, mental healthcare, water, and air pollution.

No. You don’t have to submit any ID proof unless a course has its special requirement.
Although largely focussed around journalists and media students, the ISDJ programs are open to everyone – be it data experts, policy wonks, civil society organizations, etc.
Yes. While enrolling for a specific course, participants can know of the specific timeline mentioned to complete the course. This timeline starts from the time a participant successfully registers for the course. Participants are advised to complete the course in the specified time to receive their certification.
Each of the courses are valid for a period of 6 months. In case you have not been able to complete a course within a stipulated timeframe, you may reach out to connect@livedataviz.in to explore various ways of completing your course.
The courses can be registered for at a nominal fee as mentioned in the course details. Certain courses that are sponsored by our partners can be accessed at no cost based on a coupon code provided in the course details.
To pay fees, participants can select and purchase a course of their interest from our wide courses section. Just select the course that you want to register for, click on “Take This Course” and then Proceed to checkout. Here, fill in the necessary details and you will be redirected to the payment gateway.
Click on the icon of ‘My Profile’. You will see a drop-down menu. Click on ‘Purchases’ and you will be able to view your ISDJ transaction details.
Any individual who completes the registration process (as described hereinbelow) on the Website / Web Page are eligible and successfully completes the Programme as per the Rules and Course Guidelines shall be provided with a certificate to this effect. You can find all the courses on our website. You need to click on the tab ‘Courses’ to find all the ISDJ courses available on the website.
Click on the icon of ‘My Profile’. Click on ‘My Assignments’ and you will be able to view the history of all your submitted assignments.
Apart from the videos by knowledge and industry experts, participants can also refer to a set of pre-reading material recommended by the industry expert who will be conducting their sessions.
These pre-reads will help participants relate to the videos better.

Changing passwords is very easy. Once you login, click onto “Go to My Account”, select “Account Details” where you will find the option under “Change Password”. Here, enter your new password and click on “Save Changes”
The ISDJ account could be only deactivated or deleted by the ISDJ admin only.

The ISDJ videos are viewable in a variety of different qualities, ranging from 360p to 8K. In “Auto” mode, the video player switches between all available qualities to accommodate changes in the viewer’s Internet, processing speed, and player size.
The quality of your playback experience is largely dependent on how your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or mobile provider connects to ISDJ’s playback servers. Keep in mind that your overall Internet speed can vary depending on many factors, including but not limited to: time of day, WiFi performance, other devices/users utilizing your connection, and the strength of the signal provided by your ISP.
